On Wednesday, 29 April 2026, the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) held a farewell ceremony at the Arakan Officers’ Mess in honour of Air Commodore Frederick Odoi-Wellington. He proceeds on terminal leave from 1 May 2026, ahead of his official retirement from the Ghana Armed Forces in November 2026, following a distinguished and meritorious service.
Air Commodore Odoi-Wellington, held several key appointments within the Ghana Air Force and the Armed Forces at large. His professional career culminated in his appointment as a Senior Directing Staff at the prestigious NCDS. At the College he distinguished himself by leveraging his extensive professional experience and legal background, which were evident in his mentorship and interactions with participants. Speeches delivered by both staff and participants attested to the discipline exemplified and the positive impact he made.
In his address, the Commandant, Major General Frederick Dankyi Ntiri commended Air Commodore Wellington for his meritorious service to the Ghana Armed Forces and his pivotal role in the establishment of the College in February 2023. He expressed appreciation for his dedication and encouraged him to continue supporting the College.
In recognition of his service, the Commandant presented him with a citation on behalf of the College. The Dean, Professor Emeritus John Akokpari, also honoured him with a commemorative plaque.
In response, Air Commodore Wellington expressed sincere gratitude to the Commandant, faculty, participants and staff for the recognition. He reaffirmed his readiness to support the College whenever called upon.
The ceremony was attended by NCDS staff, participants, and other distinguished guests, reflecting the high regard in which Air Commodore Odoi-Wellington is held.
